Customized multi-container home for Dominical property
Multi-container customized home, completed March 2020
We started building this customized shipping container home for a client in mid-December 2019, and finished it at the end of March 2020. It is our second completed shipping container home. The first was aluxury four-container residence on one of the 1.25-acre oceanview lots above Playa Hermosa just south of Jacó.
We are still working on our one-container model spec home. Once completed at our partner’s San José workshop, it will be placed on one of the Playa Hermosa lots for viewing and sales.
The multi-container home is being built in stages. The first container is a self-contained residence with a bunk bedroom, ample living space, full kitchen area and bathroom with shower. It has been designed so that the owner can shortly add one or two more container modules.
It has been transported for installation on the owner’s property between Quepos and Dominical, on Costa Rica’s Central Pacific coast.
Dominical is about 40 minutes south of Quepos, and is called the gateway to the South Pacific. The owner intends to convert the home to eco-friendly off-grid living.
This shipping container home was built in San José by Mueble America, which has already built four portable emergency hurricane-proof banks for Scotiabank for use in the hurricane-plagued Caribbean, and a four-container, four-unit efficiency apartment complex in San José.
